二枚組、全25曲収録のライヴ・ベストアルバム。
「NEON HEAT DISEASE 1984-1998」と題されたDisc1はDISCIPLINEアルバム以降の楽曲 (ただ一曲 "RED" が入ってますが) を中心に収録されていて「FRACTURED 1969-1996」と題されたDisc2は70年代の楽曲が収録されています。
当然タイトルどおりクリムゾン入門としても最適ですがただ単に既発音原の寄せ集めではなくレアなライヴ・テイクも織り交ぜているあたりしっかりマニア対応の作りです。
特にDisc2の「21世紀の精神異常者」と「トーキング・ドラム」が秀逸なのでファンならこれらを聴くためにも買っといたほうが良いでしょう。
まあ、 "コレクターズクラブ" を全部持ってるような人であれば必要無いと思いますが (笑)。
